Hi Payton, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
As an animal lover myself, starting Pawnd’r was a dream come true. Growing up, I was always surrounded by pets, and I knew I wanted to do something big in the animal industry. At 21 years old, I had nothing but an idea and a passion, but with years of hard work and dedication, I finally reached the point where I could launch the one stop shop for all animal lovers. I am extremely proud of what we have accomplished, and I couldn’t have made it this far without my husband. Now Director of Creative Services for Pawnd’r, my husband has been by my side every step of the way. Originally meeting in kindergarten and reuniting 17 years later by a mutual friend, it was clear the team we would make in the future. Spending years working to help me afford and create Pawnd’r, his eye for design would soon become a key component in this company. Pawnd’r is more than just a company – we are a family, united by our passion for animals and our dedication to making a difference. This is why I take pride in moral code by only partnering with no-kill animal shelters as we are able to help support the animals that are sometimes overlooked by other organizations. We also believe in working with kind, caring, and passionate people who share our mission. Our goal is to create strong partnerships with like-minded companies to make a positive impact on the world.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Building Pawnd’r has presented numerous challenges that truly tested my limits. In 2019, my father, PJ Lamourea, passed away unexpectedly, and life came to a halt. His passing has been the hardest obstacle for me. He taught me everything a father should, and more—lessons on treating animals kindly, working hard, and advocating for what you believe in. I apply these lessons in my business today. In addition to being an incredible father, he ran his own electrical business and instilled in me the value of being a self-made entrepreneur.
Despite my grief, I realized the potential of my dreams and committed to learning how to bring this app to life. Starting Pawnd’r was a significant leap of faith, especially since I had no prior experience in running a business. It became my passion project—a “golden egg” that I believed could lead me to my dream of making a difference in the world. Throughout the process, I encountered various obstacles, from resource limitations to navigating the complexities of entrepreneurship. However, these challenges ultimately helped shape both our vision and my determination.

How do you define success?
At 26 years old I can define success as finding your peace. Creating the life that you want to live, and contributing to making the world a better place. Success means nothing unless you have others to share it with, I thank God everyday for my happy family, a thriving business, and loving community. It is the biggest gift finding my passion, while meeting millions of world changing in the process. Success is what you make it, and being grateful for every new day is a huge factor in what your future holds.
