Today we’d like to introduce you to Roshini Rajkumar.
Hi Roshini, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my business, Roshini Multi Media, in early 2006 after about a decade in television news. My past life as a news reporter took me to these markets: Fargo, Des Moines, Nashville, Minneapolis, Detroit. More than twenty years since I left TV news, my previous career truly informs all that I do with my clients and as I continue my own media work.
In my consulting practice since 2006, I leverage my status as a licensed attorney, former TV news reporter, and media insider for my executive clients from Fortune 500 corporations and private-equity-backed firms. The decision to leave TV news to start my own business was less about being a business owner and more about creating the life I wanted to live. For sure, business ownership isn’t for the faint of heart. The ability to take risks, bet on yourself, and go where both wins and setbacks take you is a balancing act. Early 2026 marked twenty years in business as a C-Suite advisor and crisis strategist. I am the secret weapon for my clients and have learned a lot from them as I help them grow their executive mindset and transform their organizations.
On the media side: I hosted my own weekly radio show on WCCO Radio in the Twin Cities from 2012-2021 until I sunset it to create and then launch The Crisis Files. My show can be found on major podcast channels, YouTube, and our site: TheCrisisFiles.com. In 2025, the show won gold in the Talk Program cateogry from the international buiness “Stevie” awards. We found out in Sept 2026 that we are nominated in the Talk Show category by the Upper Midwest Regional Emmys. In November 2026, we take the show on the road for the 3d Annual The Crisis Files at Mall of America. This 3-hour show in MOA’s Rotunda will feature podcast recordings and other conversations on stage. We’ll also livestream the event for the first time this year. This live stage event is a lot of work but very rewarding and a great milestone as we continue to evovle and grow.
I do legal, crisis, and political commentary for media outlets around the United States. I’m a regular contributor on WJR Radio in Detroit and the i-Heart stations in Denver as well as various Twin Cities TV outlets.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Obstacles: Financing off the top and then some major speed bumps during COVID.
Launching my business was a a real-world / real-time crash course in an MBA.
Cash flow and other financial topics that weren’t natural parts of my undergraduate education or my law school years were learned on the job running my company.
Learning to manage my own expectations and those of team members and clients as the business got off the ground.
Actual personal losses in 2018 and 2021 of my stepfather and my mother. When you are in business for yourself, there is no paid time off for bereavement. You must find a way to mourn and keep business going for your team and your clients.
Making the decision to not take on a business partner in order to stay true to my own vision–even when I don’t have all the answers or continue to research and grow the business.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a C-Suite advisor and Crisis Strategist. My work also entails media items and professional mainstage speaking. Beyond the titles, I would say everything I do is connected with strategy and leveraging current and new relationships. I’m either strategizing for my own business and how to grow it or strategizing for my clients and their brands.
My book, Communicate That!, first came out in 2010. I’ve had two additional editions since.
My weekly radio show: REAL Talk with Roshini was on the CBS affiliate (eventually Audacy) in Minneapolis from 2012-2021. It was essentially a part-time job while I ran my full-time company.
I sunset my Sunday radio show to work on my new show: The Crisis Files
The Crisis Files was shot as a TV pilot in the spring of 2022. I initially thought I would pitch the pilot, after it was edited, in hopes of landing on TV, cable, or streaming. We brought it out as a first iteration in podcast form in August 2022. That launched an entirely new line of focus as audio on-demand and content creation took off. We started Season 5 in Sept 2026 and found out around that same time we were nominated for an Emmy award. The nomination itself is fabulous recognition of the dedication my team and I put into the show. It drops weekly and features thought leaders and high-profile people from around the United States. We welcome brands to partner with us as show sponsors.
My specialties include crisis and executive mindset. When I work with clients, I help them strategize, optimally leverage, and bring out the best in themselves and their teams as they grow their organizations.
I am also a mainstage speaker who keynotes my own content and emcees conferences and moderates panels for other brands. Whether preparing someone for stage, on-camera, or working on a succession plan for their organization, the complex layers of advice I’m able to bring to my clients come from my background in law, my first career as a TV news reporter, more than twenty years of coaching top leaders across multiple industries, and thirty years on live and virtual stages,
How do you define success?
Success is living the life you want to live with authenticity and intention and the freedom to do this with people you choose to have in your world.
