Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabrina Ehlis.
Hi Sabrina, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I began my career as an aesthetician at Spalon Montage in Edina, MN. I worked there for 13 years and in 2016, I left to start my own studio in Eden Prairie. During my three years there, my husband and I purchased a commercial building in Hopkins, MN where I am located today. My husband is a builder/contractor and gutted and remodeled the entire building. We created nine suites that are rented out by beauty professionals and two condos on the second floor, one of which we live in. So I have Sabrina Brow and Skin in one of the studios and together my husband and I have Studio 65 Beauty and Wellness Suites.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
For my personal beauty business, it has been a relatively smooth road. I had the wonderful opportunity to spend 13 years at Spalon Montage where I received consistent training and built an incredible clientele. During that time, I also began training with TrueBrow where I learned advanced skills in brow design. When I left, I was very fortunate to have clients value and follow me. The skills that I learned from TrueBrow also helped me to build and fill in any gaps. Those clients also became skin clients as well and I never really missed a beat. I feel very fortunate for that.
As far as Studio 65 Beauty and Wellness Suites, that has been a different challenge.. We opened in January of 2020 and were closed in March for the pandemic. We survived that and quickly learned that having this type of business has its difficulties. We are not big like the Salon Concepts, Solas etc. We are small and have a boutique concept. We see ourselves as a beauty and wellness space so we like to have services from highly skilled professionals that offer a client a variety of options. Finding just the right person for each suite can be a longer process that we would like.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I have given you info on Studio 65 in the previous question. As for Sabrina Brow and Skin, I specialize in skin and brows. I am an Advanced Practice Aesthetician and have been in the industry for 23 years. I work exclusively with Hydrafacial, SkinPen and
VI Peel. I offer modalities that are safe for all skin types and support what a client may do with in a medical facility. I work with Face Reality to help people that are struggling with Acne and iS Clinical, which is a pharmaceutical grade skincare that addresses a wide range of skincare needs. I am a TrueBrow Specialist and the Head North American Trainer for them. I assist women in reclaiming their Natural Brow. What I am most proud about my brand is that it offers women the highest of quality in both skin and brow care.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
The skincare industry has come a long way from just giving relaxing facials and it is changing everyday. If you truly want to be successful you have to always seek continuing education and from the very beginning look at your journey as a career… not a job. Your goal should be to build consistency in your service level and lasting relationships with your clients.
