Meet Stephania Sayler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stephania Sayler.

Hi Stephania, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started as a family photographer in 2013, having just relocated to Duluth MN, and starting a family of my own at the same time. Over the last few years though I started considering my different passions and how I could integrate them in such a way I wouldn’t feel split between X Y Z but rather dedicate myself fully to one thing. What came of that was a redirection from family photography to branding photography. In addition, I wanted to add value to my community, not just exist in a space where I can say with confidence other amazing artists were fulfilling the demand for family photography.

I don’t have to choose between networking with entrepreneurs, photography, and collaborating with small businesses, now I can do all of it at once and give it my full attention. Duluth is a town thriving with great leaders who are laser-focused on their goals, my responsibility is to share the story with visuals that capture the essence of their brand.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s always a risk when redirecting from a space you feel very comfortable in.

In a way, I still feel as though I’m re-learning everything from marketing strategy, nailing down my unique style, and how to carry myself with confidence in the field I’m in. It has been 100% worth it, Immense growth happens when you step out of your comfort and push yourself to try new things.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a branding photographer/content creator. In a more elaborate way, I collaborate with local entrepreneurs in sharing their stories with visuals that connect them to their clients and followers.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I predict many more people will step outside of their comfort zone in the coming years, they will no longer be satisfied with their 9-5 but will reclaim their time and future.

I see a much bolder generation taking risks, creating brands and businesses in their community, as long as that trend continues, the demand for visual storytellers like myself will continue as these entrepreneurs seek a way to connect and be understood.
