Meet Tatianna Williams of Burnsville, MN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tatianna Williams.

Tatianna, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story begins at Amazing Lash Studio where I was introduced to the beauty industry. I grew up with a very tomboy type of style and beauty was not something that was important to me. The owner of my studio encouraged me to get into lashing because she believed I would be good at it and I was an efficient employee. I am a pretty shy woman, so it was a lot for me to put myself out there when it came to beauty school and taking models. It took me awhile to truly love it if I am being honest; the connections I started to make was what drove me to falling in love with the entire process. Majority of my clientele were women who were 30+ in age who provided a nurturing and inspiring space for me and I started to really fall in love with them and looked forward to seeing their names pop up on my schedule. I moved onto another studio and had quite the opposite experience and I developed pretty heavy imposter syndrome and felt like everything I loved was crashing down in front of me. The environment drove me to stop lashing November of 2022 and I missed it every single day. February of 2023 I decided I was going to forge my own path of everything I wanted without regrets and that is exactly where I am today. I built my business for the women who were never first picked for anything, the underdogs, the one’s who had to fit into spaces they weren’t initially welcome in and I am now completely fulfilled in what I do for my career doing it my way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Absolutely not.
My journey has had it’s ebbs and flows in the 4 years I have been on this path. Imposter syndrome being the main obstacle; fighting with your own thoughts if you belong in these spaces and feeling like an intruder regardless of being told about all the good things you are doing especially during slow seasons during the year. Another vulnerability was my support system. I battled estrangement with my family for the first 2 years of my career and tough is an understatement. My partner kept me grounded and my clients filled the void as much as they could while also holding space for me to unapologetically grieve those failed relationships with no judgment. I also have dealt with toxic salon culture. I always wanted to be a employee and never had the desire to run a business in the beginning, but dealing with the toxicity and isolation pushed me to cultivate a space for myself and my clients where we all feel safe, seen, and heard.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Blaccout Beauty is known for lash services, 1:1 trainings, and product development. I coined the name of my business due to the type of sets I specialize in, mega volume lash extensions. Upon entering my space, clients know they are going to walk out with a dark & dense set with great retention! Believe it or not, I am most proud of my lash space. I always get compliments on my space and so many women have told me they feel safe in my space and know they’re going to walk out with a new podcast to binge or a new song to add to their playlist. I also am super proud of the community I have built with clients + customers of my lash products. There is always good energy and immense support that is given and received and I believe that is what sets me apart from others; I genuinely care. If I could do this job for free I absolutely would. I take my work seriously and it translates in every way through how I conduct business with everyone who wants to work with me.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is subjective first and foremost. What it means can vary from person to person depending on values, goals, and life experiences. For me, success isn’t tied to money, status, or outside validation.

Success means waking up every single day and executing everything I set my mind to. It’s about discipline, alignment, and showing up for myself consistently whether the world sees it or not. It’s living with intention and knowing I didn’t let the day pass me by.
