Meet Yeimy L. Reintanz of YLR Real Estate

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yeimy L. Reintanz.

Yeimy L Reintanz

Hi Yeimy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, you could tell our readers some of your backstory.
My name is Yeimy Reintanz, and I am originally from Bogota – Colombia. I am the only child of a single mother who died in 2017 of throat cancer; it was a difficult time in my life, but I did promise her that I would be successful and happy so she could rest in peace. I am a mother of two children, and I have been a woman with dreams and believe that you can get everything you want. In 2014, I had the opportunity to come to the USA and met very kind people who showed me the new culture and beautiful places in this country. On my second visit to the USA, my life changed; I had to decide to stay in this country and be far away from my family, my children, my friends, my home, etc, and start over a new life from zero in Texas. It was not easy, but it has been my best choice today. As an immigrant, starting over was a challenge. I needed to learn a new language, culture, and way of life. I have always been open-minded to new opportunities, which helped me with this new path in my life. When I had the permit to work, I started as a housekeeper in hotels because I did not speak English, but I always knew it was temporal; I was attending English classes in the community school besides my work. In 2016, my youngest child came to the USA, and We moved to Rochester, MN; my first job here was as a housekeeper supervisor, but again, I knew this was just part of the process until I could work in my dream job as a Realtor, in 2018 I did find a job where I could improve my English. I went to work as a waitress in Olive Garden; I knew practicing English with the customer would help me to communicate better in this language. Then, when I felt more comfortable with my English, I decided to take real estate classes in 2019. It was not easy for me, but I did not give up; I had to repeat the exam 5 times before I passed it. Today, I am a very successful and happy Realtor, helping people become homeowners, making their dreams come true, living my own dream. Fortunately my two children are living with me here; I couldn’t be happier, my life is complete! Thanks God and all the people who helped me and opened their doors for me when I needed it. Also, I am working as a team with my son, which is fantastic! As an average person, I have had difficult times but always overcome them by being positive and focusing on my goals.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been relatively smooth so far?
Being an immigrant comes with many challenges like one day deciding to change all your life and start over in an unknown place, also a new culture, language, opportunities, and sometimes discrimination. Still, I always have a clear vision of where I want to go, and I need to stay positive, believe in myself, and focus on what I want to get. Hard work, patience, and persistence are my allies. It must be worth the sacrifices that I have made. For sure, it has been!
