Today we’d like to introduce you to Angie Krautbauer.
Hi Angie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I purchased an old building in 2007 that was built in 1886. We had rented spaces out over the years but had always talk about putting a bar restaurant in one of the spaces. We had a couple approach us about putting a cocktail bar in one of our spaces in 2021. We chatted with them for a few weeks and decided we should go ahead and let them try.
The cocktail bar didn’t make it, but we really felt like we could make a go of it. We had been hearing around town that people wanted a quaint place to drink.
So we decided to peruse the bar business on our own.
My grandpa had a bar in Monticello back in the 70’s and my uncle took it over after that for quite a few years. So I knew I had it in me to honor their hard work.
We redid the bar that was there and made it our own in the summer of 2022.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When deciding to take this adventure we gathered the right people for help and support while building and prepping for the opening date. There weren’t too many obstacles to over come as the bar was already there. Just some paint, chairs, velvet curtains and crystal chandeliers. We had a lot of help from friends and other local businesses to create The Liquor Lounge.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am probably most recognized for my love of health and fitness. I have been into body building fitness for 28 years. My track coaches in high school got me into lifting heavy back in 1998 and I haven’t stopped. I started in nutrition 17 years ago and that brought me into helping people with nutrition goals.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I was in a country music video back in 2011. Filmed in Ramsey Mn.
