Today we’d like to introduce you to Cecilia Wallace
Hi Cecilia, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I began acting when I was a kid in Stillwater, Minnesota. I acted in school and through Ashland Theater Company. I went to University of Vermont for my first year of college and transferred home to the University of St. Thomas the next year. Once I got home, I decided I really wanted to deep dive back into the arts. I join Caryn Models and took classes. I got involved in theater at St. Thomas. In May I was in the back-to-school campaign for Scheel’s. I have recently been involved in many short films in the Twin Cities and collaborated with photographers for modeling shoots.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I don’t think acting or modeling is necessarily a smooth road for anyone starting off. The path is not linear. Sometimes you have a lot of jobs lined up, and sometimes you are auditioning and waiting to line the next up. I think learning that the process isn’t linear has been an important part in my growth as a creative, and one day, I’d love to do this full time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I love modeling and acting. I am most proud of my acting and commercial acting. Recently, I did a short film called Pom Pom POW that I am incredibly proud of where I started as a cheerleader named Stacey Cohen. I was also very proud of the Scheel’s back-to-school campaign I did, and it was an honor to see if broadcast during events like the Olympics and more. I think my versatility sets me apart from others. Sometimes I’m playing a sassy stereotypical cheerleader and other days I’m a creepy creature wearing a prosthetic mask. Each day is different than the rest, and that’s one of my favorite parts about the arts.
What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
I’ve learned about how crucial flexibility is. In acting and modeling shoots, things can easily go wrong, the schedule can quickly change, and more. It’s so crucial to learn to go with the flow while maintaining a positive attitude. Not only does that make the work easier for everyone else, but it keeps a positive set and makes you love your job even more.
