Hi Christine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Mental Health and Wellness was challenging for me working in Technology. I struggled to make it a priority so the stress piled on with my long work commute. During the onset of Covid-19, I was laid off from my job. It was a blessing in disguise because I had more time to truly align myself with what was important. I was burning candles every evening and I thought about what ingredients were being released in my home. Turns out the candles were not made of sustainable ingredients. I researched organic products and how I could make my own. I was testing all day and all night to develop a quality and sustainable candle. VELABAECANDLES was ignited.

I take great pleasure with hand pouring each candle because it is my therapy. I include an affirmation to promote self care, releasing anxious thoughts, and to focus on giving energy to what you do want in life.

The “BAE” is dedicated to my granddaughters: Bella, August, and Emory. Bella is learning the art and science of candle making and helps custom package all shipments. August and Emory will join in on the fun as they grow and learn to embrace the entrepreneurs in them.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Anything worth it is worth giving time and pushing through the challenges. I am in a tough market saturated with candle makers. It takes commitment and intention to develop a personal brand and the customer value of purchasing a hand-poured eco-friendly candle. Tons and tons of testing the right combination of vessel, wick, fragrance and wax.
