Rising Stars: Meet Clairrail Taylor of Minneapolis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Clairrail Taylor.

Clairrail Taylor

Hi Clairrail, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I started my online business, The Young Digital Marketer, after realizing the traditional college-to-95 pipeline wasn’t for me. I wanted to be able to travel as a digital nomad while being able to work remotely and for myself.

Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been a challenging road. One of my struggles is to see more representation of young entrepreneurs. I have struggled with imposter syndrome and being the “black sheep” for starting an online business.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I work full-time as a barista and youth worker at a non-profit coffee shop focusing on ending youth homelessness. I have paired my love for youth & community work with my online business. I have a 2-year background working with non-profits around youth development. I have the honor of hosting free business development classes for youth in North MLS, which has high rates of gun violence and poverty.

What makes you happy?
I was trying new things and challenging what I knew. I taught myself how to swim at 18; I’m 21 now. I knew I had to learn it, and if no one would teach me, I would introduce myself. I was tired of commuting to and from work, so I decided to learn how to make money online. I discovered digital marketing and quickly realized that if I wanted to stand out, I’d have to learn high-ticket online skills in digital marketing. For 5 months, I took to learning aerial at Fly Freak Studio because it looked so cool and was a form of workout that didn’t require me to lift weights! In a more holistic pov, journaling, meditation, and yoga have been grounding for me when everything feels out of control.
