Today we’d like to introduce you to Darian Poser.
Hi Darian, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
My journey to physical, mental, and emotional wellness has been a long and winding road. As a very stereotypical “Type-A” and perfectionist personality, the idea of slowing down and taking care of myself was never really at the forefront of my mind. After years of trying to do it all, I made my way to a hot yoga studio in St. Paul in 2016.
The clarity, peace, and connection to my body after that first class was a feeling I will never forget! After moving all over the state of Minnesota, I finally found a yoga home at Azitala in Elk River in the fall of 2018, where I have been taking classes and growing my practice ever since. As the years have gone by and my practice has deepened, the endless benefits of yoga have grown with me. I have navigated the adventures and challenges of motherhood and life changes over the years, but yoga has always been the grounding force that brings me back to feeling like “me” and has truly changed my life.
As a child and young adult, I was very involved in martial arts as both a student and an instructor, and my passion for yoga bloomed similarly and I knew I eventually wanted to teach. After sharing yoga with my family and friends and seeing what an impact a yoga practice had on their lives as well, I attended the teacher training program at Azitala and graduated in March of 2023. I immediately took a position teaching at Azitala for the early morning classes that I had been a student of for so many years and completely fell in love.
I truly believe that yoga can be beneficial for anyone, in any body, and all walks of life! I look forward to continuing to guide students through their yoga journeys and am honored to have the opportunity to do so in both group classes (Azitala Studio in Elk River) and private/small group settings (Hope Yoga).
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
After two weeks of teaching in March of 2023, I learned the tragic news that I had an ectopic pregnancy that had ruptured my fallopian tube, and was quickly rushed into emergency surgery. During this physical and emotional upheaval in my life, I turned to my yoga mat and found peace in the community I had built at Azitala and with my family and friends.
In working through the emotional trauma of a pregnancy loss, I found peace in naming the baby that we had lost.
Through this tragedy, Hope Yoga was born. The branding for Hope Yoga also includes a chrysanthemum flower, which is the November birth flower for what would have been her due date, by creating beauty from terrible loss and finding my feet back on the mat as both a yoga practitioner and instructor, I was able to rebuild and rebloom.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a yoga instructor and also teach women’s and children’s self-defense and awareness courses.
Specialties include restorative, prenatal, active flow, slow flow, and many more! I am available to teach in one-on-one, small group, or large group settings and am flexible with locations.
