Rising Stars: Meet Ellie Maher of Minnesota

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ellie Maher.

Hi Ellie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up in Fargo, North Dakota and I quietly questioned everything…why things, people, places and interactions among them are the way they are. I still do. Existence fascinates me! I finished high school early and went to college for a short time to be an architect, I love structure design and buildings, but it just wasn’t vibing with me so I dropped out. But I knew I needed to do something so I earned my AAS in Business Management. On the side I was still acquiring all things metaphysical in my personal life. Then an opportunity opened for me at a Tattoo Studio, I knew I needed to walk down that path so I went for it! It lead me to my tattoo career of 25 years now. I was always an artist but never wanted to pursue it as a career,I didn’t want to be a starving artist, this was a way to “not starve”. Perfect!

Through tattooing I learned how much I like to hear my clients stories, I get to know them well during long tattoo sessions. Getting a tattoo is in itself a form of meditation, you have to go “out of body” to receive it, so in turn I get to converse with their true self and who they are on a soul level.

At that time, I was deep in my tattoo career, running my studio Tailwind Tattoo alongside my husband(fellow artist Aaron) and raising 2 small children. Parallel to all of that, I was pursuing my own journey of the soul trying to figure out answers to my life experiences. That’s when I went down the rabbit hole of past lives and reincarnation.

I had my own past life regression session and it changed my life! I knew I needed to learn how to help others by learning how to facilitate sessions, so that’s what I did. I was already used to sitting with clients for hours, this was what I was training for the whole time and didn’t realize it! I became a QHHT® Practitioner and then opened Full Circle Soul shortly after.

I’m also a psychic medium. I often receive messages from loved ones when doing memorial tattoos for clients. But you don’t have to get a tattoo to receive them, lol! They come through in other ways as well, I offer those services and card readings separately.

Long story short( there’s way more, ha), I know this is my purpose on this planet and I’m so grateful to have listened to my gut instincts along the way to get here!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We come here for the hard stuff..thats how we learn right?

Being a woman in the tattoo industry 25 years ago was rare, I always felt I had to prove myself. I discovered later that I had a past life as the daughter of a prominent lumber yard owner in the 1800’s and I wanted to work there, but because I was a woman I wasn’t allowed. I’m making up for it now!

Regarding my metaphysical work, everything has clicked along easily and fell into place. There will always be skeptics, but that’s their journey not mine. Judgment isn’t a problem with who’s being judged, it’s an issue with the one judging. That’s where the lesson lies.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My tattooing style is feminine and colorful. Tattooing flowers is my absolute favorite. Fit, flow, and color theory are extremely important. It needs to fill the space and stand out as what it is. I typically work on large projects with multiple sessions but I’m open to all ideas. I use my psychic abilities and truly “tap in” when designing for my clients so I can give them something they’ll love.

As a metaphysical practitioner, I see my clients as the Soul in the body, not the other way around. We’re all just energy merging together, trying to find the right frequencies. I love helping them to see how truly fascinating they are!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Research the community you’re in. Find groups of like minded people and meet up with them in person. One door leads to the next! I’ve met SO many amazing people through the span of both of my careers. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone, it only feels that way because it’s new…eventually it will BE comfort.
