Today we’d like to introduce you to Emelia Thielman.
Hi Emelia, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
The outdoors have always been a huge part of my life. I have so many fond memories from my childhood: family hikes, nature field trips, and even just playing outside. However, I became a little more “indoorsy” throughout middle school and my first couple of years of high school. My love of the outdoors was reignited towards the end of my sophomore year, when I switched to online school. The online school gave me a lot more flexibility with my schedule. I was able to travel more, hike more, and live life outside. Around the end of 2020, I started sharing my adventures on social media. I didn’t really have a plan; I just enjoyed having my own online “scrapbook” of sorts. Apparently, other people enjoyed it too! Since then, I’ve continued to document my lifestyle online, and in the process, I’ve found an amazing community of adventure lovers like myself.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, because I’ve mostly been on trails! All jokes aside, taking the path less traveled hasn’t always been easy. I’ve always struggled with relating to people my own age, and leaving public school widened that gap. However, I wouldn’t trade my lifestyle for anything. I’ve been able to experience so many things that I otherwise would’ve missed, and I’ve grown so much as a person. There’s no pressure to “fit in” when you’re in nature. Being outside allows me to be myself, unapologetically.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Instagram is the main platform I use to share my adventures. I’m often complimented on my “cohesive feed”, which consists of photos from my hikes, travels, and other outdoor activities.
