Rising Stars: Meet Eve Mayer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Mayer.

Hi Eve, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
I’m originally from south Louisiana where the alligators swim happily in the bayou, the food is amazing and the people are characters.

After living there for 24 years, I moved to Dallas and lived there for 24 years. My family and I recently moved to Rochester, MN for cooler weather and to be closer to our family. I’ve been an entrepreneur for 30 years.

I’m married to Levi Sauerbrei who works for Seer Medical and is also an entrepreneur with his company NerdButler.com. We have a 16-year-old daughter, Luna, who is a talented writer who attends Century High School.

We also have a rescue mutt who is 6 years old, named Holly. She loves to sleep on a lap or catch a frisbee.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’m not sure anyone can say that the road to their life has been smooth.

I have been fortunate but as an entrepreneur for the past 30 years, it has been a roller coaster ride. There have been times when I wasn’t sure I’d make the next payroll (I always did) and times when I had more money than I could believe. A common misconception is that entrepreneurs have it all figured out. We don’t. We are just like everyone else.

I’ve owned many companies. One was a profitable cupcake company. However, I hated baking and I gained 30 pounds – this was not a good fit. Another company I owned was a marketing agency with a team of 30 incredible people. This company lasted successfully for almost 10 years and it was a fun ride.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
My background has been quite varied. I’m most proud of my writing and speaking. I’ve written three books – one on marketing, one on women empowerment, and one on intermittent fasting. I’m a New York Times Best Selling Author which was a big dream of mine.

I’ve spoken on 3 continents and in many countries. One of my books is translated into over 10 languages and sold all over the world. I’ve done a TEDx talk and I’ve spoken at NATO three times.

I’m very proud of the culture I created at the companies I built – we won Best Places to Work Awards and Women-Owned Business Awards. This happened because I hired the right people and trusted them to do their jobs. I rewarded them for exceptional performance and their confidence/abilities grew exponentially.

I currently own a company called DiversityCrew.com where I get to represent 50 of the best diversity, equity, and inclusion trainers and speakers in the country.
