Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Stendahl.
Jenny, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been working at Rush Creek Golf Club for 30 years! It started as summer job in college, turn into a passion and has become my life. I met my husband here and we have formed our own family with 2 kids, along with a work family that shares a passion in providing exceptional golf, food and event services for our guests. It has been amazing to watch the Maple Grove community, as well as our business, grow and change over the past 3 decades!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As far as my own personal career path, one obstacle was deciding what to do after college. I had just graduated from the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota. What was I going to do with my marketing degree, continue working seasonally at a golf course? I followed my passion and instinct, and it ended up working out. Our operation grew faster than intended. Soon I was taking on the merchandise buying as well as tournament coordination and eventually it led to upper-level management.
We’ve been lucky to have great ownership and leadership throughout the journey. The growth in our community allowed us to reach families in the area and expand our restaurant business as a local favorite as well as add a par three course and expand our junior programs. Our diversification of departments (golf, restaurant, banquets, lessons) leans itself to success from year to year.
When COVID hit, golf boomed. Even more than that, the population in this area keeps flourishing. We are one of the few courses in the west metro, so demand has stayed high. Meeting this demand has been challenging.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m most proud of the down-home, comfortable atmosphere we provide for our guests. They want to be here and come back time after time. Our staff takes pride in coming together as a team to work hard and have fun while we are doing it! We are there to support each other in Rush Creek’s vision to be the top public golf course in Minnesota.

There is something for everyone at our facility. Need a good meal? Stop by our restaurant. Looking to pick up the game of golf? Take a lesson at our Academy or get your kids started in our junior program. Planning an event such as a wedding, meeting, anniversary party, holiday banquet, or team dinner?
