Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesus Dominguez.
Hi Jesus, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I began my barber journey in 2020 during a time when life felt uncertain for many people, including myself. After working a variety of jobs, I realized I wanted to build a career I genuinely loved—something creative, meaningful, and worth mastering. Cutting hair had always caught my attention. I admired how barbers could turn a simple haircut into something artistic.
In 2022, my wife and I moved from Minnesota to Ormond Beach, Florida so I could pursue barber school and complete the 900 hours required there. I enrolled in 2023 and quickly learned barber school was more than just cutting hair—it included quizzes, written tests, and a surprising amount of homework. The journey pushed me, challenged me, and helped shape the barber I am today.
I graduated on the Dean’s List in 2023. Soon after, my wife and I returned to Minnesota, where I continued my education to meet the state’s requirement of 1,500 total hours. I enrolled at Molar Barber School and made the 45–50 minute drive every day, Monday through Saturday, until I completed the additional 600 hours and officially earned my Minnesota barber license.
Throughout this entire process, my wife Olivia was my biggest supporter. Her encouragement helped me push through moments of doubt and stay focused on my goals.
Today, I take pride in every cut, treating each one as a blend of skill, creativity, and craftsmanship. I’m grateful for my journey, and even more excited for what’s ahead.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely was not as smooth of a ride as I hoped. I would say some of the hardest struggles I went through was trying to balance schoolwork with my job, family and finances.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
As a barber I specialize in men’s hair and beards. I am known for fades and shaping beards. I pride myself in taking time with learning peoples hair and how they like it. Taking my time to make them feel the best they can about themselves.
How do you think about luck?
The luckiest thing I can think of that had the biggest impact on my life and business was the amazing wife I have by my side.
