Rising Stars: Meet Marky Bergeron of New Orleans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Marky Bergeron

Hi Marky, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up in New Orleans, a city known for its rich culture, bold individuality, and artistic expression. From a young age, I was drawn to the eclectic mix of fashion, music, and street art that surrounded me. That energy stuck with me, shaping my creative perspective and fueling my passion for design.

Pursuing that passion, I attended SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), where I honed my skills and deepened my understanding of fashion. SCAD exposed me to a world of creative possibilities, and it was there that I began to develop my unique aesthetic—one that blends luxury with a raw, street edge.

My senior collection at SCAD, Opus One by Sibilance, reflected my love for intricate details, heavily embellished crystals, and tapestry work, bringing an elevated feel to the streetwear space. Sibilance, a streetwear brand that takes inspiration from designers like Amiri, Balmain, and Dolce & Gabbana will launch Spring 2025.

In addition to Sibilance, I created Marky Swim, a women’s swimwear line. The brand was even featured at Art Basel Miami in 2024, which was a major moment in showcasing my ability to merge high fashion with bold, artistic influences.

Beyond fashion, music has always been a huge part of my creative journey. Under the name Marky B, I’ve been producing and releasing music since 2021, further expanding my artistic expression. Whether in fashion or music, my goal has always been the same: to create something bold, expressive, and authentic.

Each step of my journey—from growing up in New Orleans to attending SCAD, launching my brands, and making music—has been about pushing boundaries and staying true to my vision. And this is just the beginning.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—building a brand, or multiple brands in my case, comes with its challenges. One of the biggest struggles has been balancing creativity with the business side of things. As a designer and artist, my focus is always on creating, but running a brand requires strategy, marketing, production, and financing, which can be overwhelming at times.

With Sibilance, finding the right manufacturers to execute my vision—especially with the intricate details like crystal embellishments and tapestry work—was a learning curve. Quality control, production delays, and the high costs of luxury streetwear all posed challenges, but I’m learning how to navigate them over time.

Marky Swim had its own hurdles, especially breaking into the competitive swimwear market. Getting featured at Art Basel Miami was a major milestone, but before that, there were moments of trial and error with designs, fit, and sourcing materials that aligned with my vision.

On the music side with Marky B, the biggest challenge has been establishing a presence in an industry that’s constantly evolving. Carving out a unique sound and audience while balancing my fashion brands requires serious dedication.

Despite the struggles, every challenge has pushed me to grow. I’ve had to learn patience, adaptability, and the importance of surrounding myself with the right team. Nothing worth building comes easy, but the journey has been just as rewarding as the destination.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My work is all about blending luxury with street culture, creating pieces that feel bold, expressive, and high-end. With Sibilance, my streetwear brand, I specialize in heavily embellished garments—think intricate crystal work and statement designs inspired by the fine craftsmanship. What sets Sibilance apart is that it brings a couture-like attention to detail into the streetwear space, making each piece feel like wearable art.

With Marky Swim, I focus on sleek, fashion-forward designs that elevate traditional swimwear. The brand was featured at Art Basel Miami, which was a huge moment in merging swimwear with high fashion and art culture.

Outside of fashion, I also make music under Marky B. My sound reflects the same bold energy that fuels my design work—it’s all about self-expression and pushing creative boundaries.

What I’m most proud of is being able to build brands that truly represent my vision and experiences. Growing up in New Orleans, attending SCAD, and now running my own labels has been a journey of staying authentic to my artistry. What sets me apart is my ability to merge multiple creative worlds—fashion, music, and art—into something unique and deeply personal. I want everything I create to tell a story, spark a reaction, and inspire people to express themselves unapologetically.
