Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Jones.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
It started about 8 years ago, I became very interested in making everything from scratch. Instead of buying food with so many ingredients, a lot that most don’t even know what it is, I began to make it all. Sourdough was in that list and it began to snowball from there. I was making it all the time, then family and friends started asking me to make them a loaf. I joined a farmers market the summer I was on maternity leave and it grew into a business. Its a huge passion of mine to be able to provide clean and nourishing food.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Yes and no, running a business is no easy task. If you love what you are doing, it definitely makes in more enjoyable. The hardest part was learning the business aspect. Constantly adjusting and adapting. Finding a rhythm of what works for me and my situation.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I run a sourdough micro-bakery out of my home. I specialize in long fermented bread, bagels and croissants. I would say that I am most known for bagels and bread. I use only organic flour and try to use all organic ingredients. The less ingredients, the better. I will not use any artificial dyes. I am proud of my whole business. I would say that the thing that sets me apart from others is that I am always looking and researching how I can improve.
In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I see it growing. There is a big shift in the food industry right now. People are wanting real food. Not processed food that can sit on a shelf for weeks and not mold.
