Rising Stars: Meet Stan Juzwiak

Today we’d like to introduce you to Stan Juzwiak.

Hi Stan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started out solely as a music producer, making beats and engineering for artists in the area. It was often hard to find people work with and so to diversify the skills and services I could provide, I started getting into music videography in order to add value to myself. Additionally, I was having trouble finding people willing to pay for beats or audio engineering work because there are millions of amazing beats on YouTube and it’s hard to compete with that. With videography on the other hand, it’s much more location based because you need to physically meet up to shoot the video. Because of that, the market is far less saturated. When I got started, it was difficult to find anyone to hire me because I didn’t have a reel or any work samples to display what I was capable of. I ended up meeting an artist named Kelvino after one of his shows at the pourhouse, and I said I’d do a video for him for free so I would at least have something to show other potential clients. That video ended up being the “Come Correct” video which was the first of many we’ve since done together. After that, I just kept reaching out to more and more people on Instagram and other social media to find more people in need of videography work. I’m still working and pushing to get farther and work with even more artists while still trying to appreciate the process.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Sometimes finding clients is slow and there are dry spells between videography gigs. A tactic I’ve implemented to find new clients is, going to concerts and doing photography, which I would then send to artists for free, to establish a relationship and then mention that I also do music videos should they ever be looking for a videographer.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
In my videography work, I try to do things people haven’t seen before. I feel like everyone has seen the classic hip-hop video of cars, money, and girls a million times so I like to try and push the visuals in different directions or experiment with styles that aren’t typical for the genre. My highest viewed video to date is the Lil Duskii “Migos” video which I think was successful partially in part to my implementation of color and a black and white cartoon effect that I hadn’t seen implemented in a drill video before.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
More than anything, COVID gave me the opportunity to sit and watch editing tutorials for hours and work on perfecting my craft.
