Today we’d like to introduce you to T and Nae.
We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We are a sister team from Hugo, MN. T and Nae are the name of our small business and are our nicknames. It stands for Taryn (T) and Renee (Nae). We spent a lot of our childhood at our grandparents’ farm growing up. We loved learning how to farm from our family. As we grew up we wanted to find a way to create a small business that continued the legacy. We had the idea to grow flowers for T’s own wedding and people were interested in buying them. The rest is history! From there we continued growing and learning. 2020 provided us time to get started and an opportunity to create The Ninny our mobile flower bar. We continue to learn and grow new things and expand on new ideas. It’s also a great way for us to spend time together with our family!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Overall, things have been smooth. We balance each other out well and play to our strengths. We do work hard for that balance and sometimes it’s a lot to juggle. We could not do this if it wasn’t for each other and the support of our family. Also, being flower farmers the weather is so impactful. We have gained a big appreciation and understanding of mother nature.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are flower farmers that specialize in flowers and events. We grow local cut flowers and specialize in bouquets, flower bars, and custom floral needs. We sell flowers at Farmers Markets and also host our own seasonal market. This summer market also gives space to local vendors and makers to sell their products. We sell bouquets and custom orders for local delivery, or farm pick up. Buckets of Blooms are a great option for DIY floral projects. Flower Bars are fun for any party! Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Our advice would be to just make connections. We have had the best experience meeting other makers at markets. Through those connections, we have learned so much. We also work to create a welcoming environment at our farm and our events. We are so thankful for the support of our local community and to everyone who has thought of us for their floral needs!
