Malik Thomas Des shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Malik, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Learning my history and passing the knowledge of self identity to my peers
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi I’m Desgetmoney I’m a independent musician going on 11 years consistent I produce, write poems and manage other artists but when I’m not focused on my career I run an independent media brand in Minneapolis called smoke summ incorporated where the hardest working artists get the shine on my platform free of charge I also throw shows to help artists get their stage presence down. One thing I would like people to know is most of my thoughts are ready to become actions which is why I don’t talk much and one thing I’m working on is my next untitled project where all the beats were made by Minnesota producers and I have a single title “i miss u des” dropping in November on all streaming platforms
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
A King and a God
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Endurance trains the mind to fight back struggle creates character it doesn’t mean you can’t be successful without struggle but I bet you won’t be able to maintain success if you’ve never failed before
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
We need to unite and overthrow our government
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
